The company has unveiled a slim 5.2-inch display that tops other mobile contender by measuring just 2.2mm thin with a 2.3mm bezel. LG’s latest display is certainly the world’s slimmest and will pave the way for stylish, sleeker and more compact handsets in the future.
It boasts brighter screen images thanks to LG Display’s Advanced One-Glass-Solution (OGS). The company utilized dual flexible printed circuits to reduce the number of lines on the panel by 30 percent and direct bonding system between the panel and touch film to improve its brightness.
The result is a wafer-thin panel capable of producing 1080 x 920 pixels, with 535 nits maximum brightness that can project a more vivid and accurate images even outdoors. Testing firm Intertek, certified its Ambient Contrast Ratio rated at 3.74:1 which means that users can clearly see on-screen contents even on direct sunlight.
The display technology is a significant improvement over LG’s Zerogap Touch technology – that was utilized on the Optimus G. LG’s future smartphones are expected to utilize the high-end display panel while other devices such astablets are seen to follow the trend.
