Dell Chromebook 11 Laptop Is Affordable, Made For Students & Teachers

Dell is officially releasing its Chrome OS laptop, the company’s first, come January 2014. The Chromebook 11 is said to be ideal for the education sector, particularly the teachers and their students, for online collaboration thanks to the Wyse PocketCloud app. An entire school will be connected to a secured network with the security, tracking and configuration handled by IT administrators using a clouse-based management console.

This makes the laptop ideal for the education ecosystem wherein Dell’s resources and the Google Apps work hand in hand to provide integration suitable to the education environment.  The learning infrastructure makes use of the WiFi, Webcam, graphics, USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 4.0 functionalities.The 2.9-pound computing device is powered by a 1.4GHz Celeron processor and it has a solid state drive with a maximum capacity of 16GB. The 11.6-inch Chrome OS gadget has a battery with a lifespan in-between charges of 10 hours, longer than Acer’s C720.

The version containing a RAM of 4GB arrives in UK and the US in the same month but the planned 2GB model is set for release within the first quarter of 2014. The Dell Chromebook 11 that comes out in January is the 4GB variant and it has a price tag of below $300 with orders from both UK and the US accepted on the company’s website.

The latest offering from Sony includes dual micro USB and USB 2.0 connectors for fast and easy back-up of files. Samsung 840 EVO 1TB mSATA SSD Announced For December

Samsung updates its 840 EVO mSATA SSD line-up with a high-capacity storage leaving other manufacturers behind. The new 840 EVO model has a ginormous 1TB capacity, a first of its kind.

Solid-State Drives (SSD) utilizes flash memory to store data compared to metal plates on HDD. The result is more power efficient and lighter storage that paves the way for smaller, lighter and thinner computers.

Samsung’s 840 EVO was introduced in July during Samsung’s SSD Global Summit originally offered in 120GB, 250GB and 500GB. The 1TB model utilizes four 16-layer 128 gigabit (Gb) NAND flash memory packages with a total weight of 8.5 grams and 3.85 mm thickness – which is 40% thinner and 92% lighter than standard hard drives. In addition, all 840 EVO SSD models yield 98,000 random read and 90,000 random write IOPS; and 540MB/s sequential read speeds and 520MB/s sequential write speeds. All models  utilize Samsung’s own controller and TurboWrite technology.

Other storage drives (HDD /SSD) can be used with all 840 EVO SSD models as long as it supports mSATA port. Users may also use Samsung Magician 4.3 software to boost sequential read speeds up to 1000MB/s while on RAPID (Real-time Accelerated Processing of I/O Data) mode.

Interested consumers are expected to pay top dollar for the SSD when it launches later this month.

Razer Kazuyo iPhone GamePad Leaked Specs

Razer could be on the verge of mass producing its own line of iOS gamepads if recent rumor hold water. The gaming peripheral specialist is apparently developing its own gamepad codenamed “Kazuyo” fitted for iDevices including the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5. While exact specifications and hardware are still a mystery as of this moment, we’ve managed to take a peek at what it could look like once out in the wild.

The Razer Kazuyo has similarities with current iOS gamepads including four action buttons and multi-directional arrow pad while having wraparound design that encapsulates the iPhone securely. One nifty feature it has, which isn’t present on other game controllers, is the ability to tilt up to a 45-degree angle providing a more ergonomic gaming experience. It also has backlit action keys and pressure-sensitive shoulder buttons.

The render could ultimately be true. If so, the Razer Kazuyo might present could pose a threat to the growing roster of iPhone game controllers including Logitech (Powershell) and MOGA (Ace Power). These companies took advantage of the native controller API installed by Apple on its latest iOS 7 platform allowing third-party manufacturers to build custom-made peripherals for iDevices.

Official details including price and release date are yet to be announced so for now, take these with a grain of salt.

He plans to introduce the Typo Keyboard during the CES 2014 in Las Vegas. The initial investment is reported to be $1 million but this could go up to $5 million with more keyboard concepts coming up. Retrofitting a keyboard to an iPhones makes its appearance similar to the BlackBerry with its protruding keyboard in front but differences are highly noticeable. The keyboard looks much of a protective case where the iPhone is inserted underneath. Lumus DK-40: Toughest Competitor For Google Glass?

Smartphones and tablets have been man’s favorite companion today. However, there are physical inconveniences that these gadgets present. Because of this, the birth of heads up display gadgets (HUD) is made possible. One HUD device is made by Google called as the Google Glass. From the name itself, Google glass is an eyeglass shaped device which is actually a headset with a projected display screen, a camera and available data connection.

However, Google glass is yet to meet its best competitor, the Lumus DK-40. Lumus, a well known manufacturer for military HUD devices has developed their new HUD glass that offers full augmented reality support which is not present in its Google glass competitor.

Unlike Google’s small display block, the DK-40’s entire right lens is set to display in 640 by 480 pixels. This allows multiple graphic displays instead of Glass’ separate notifications screens.

Lumus doesn’t intend to actually mass produce this device for commercial use. However, they want to show that their DK-40 is capable of integrating digital graphics with the real world view. What’s good with Lumus’ DK-40 is that you can strut and wear this device like you are just wearing regular glasses.

The resolution display of Lumus offers a 25-degree field of view in the right lens. Moreover, the block section carries the5 MP camera along with the processor, the battery and the sensors. This device is wireless and can last up to 1-2 hours.

The Lumus DK-40 HUD is expected to be released and distributed at the end of the first quarter of 2014. There is no confirmed price range set for the device yet.

Apparently, price is also different for the two elite rigs with the gaming version setting you back $2,200 while the workstation is tagged at $2800. Both GT60 3K laptops are now available.

Nintendo 2DS Pokemon Bundle To Release This Week

Nintendo is releasing a 2DS bundle in time for the start of the holiday season and it’s the first release ever for the handheld. The two 2DS bundles come in red and blue with the Pokemon X pre-installed on the former and Pokemon Y pre-installed on the latter.

Bundles are nothing new to Nintendo since it has been its habit of including games to all types of handhelds but this one is the first for 2DS. Since the bundle are available while supplies last, there is no indication that additional units are coming to replenish any dwindling stocks. The backward-compatible 2DS system is similar to the 3DS except for someslight improvements.

The games brings a new world of Pokemon with new regions to explore and a lot of new features introduced. The game was released last October 12 and was well-received with more than 2 million copies already sold. There’s no word for now as to when these bundles will hit the other regions.

Both will come out in December 6 with Target carrying the red version and Toys R Us carrying the blue with the same price of $150. It will be $20 cheaper compared to buying the game software and the handheld separately which is $130 for the 2DS and $40 for the Pokemon X/Y.

The Waiting Time For Playstation 5 Release Will Be Shorter Than PS4

As Sony’s PlayStation 4 is readying its army of consoles for the UK release, the question about a console’s life cycle has cropped up online. Microsoft is said to have answered the query with the 10-year figure for the Xbox One but Sony expects a lower figure for its PS4 console. Sony believes that the fast changing technology and the gamers’ penchant for new iterations contribute to the lowering of the console’s life cycle.

We couldn’t tell if Microsoft shares the same sentiment perhaps because it’s too early to tell or that the festive mood associated with next-gen consoles’ release does not augur well for discussing life-cycles of different consoles. Sony seems to be banking on gamers’ actual use of the console and the period of time required for them to get bored of the console.

Newer technology could also spell a difference about the lifecycle and it is always possible for both Microsoft and Sony to change plans and released new consoles before the new technology passed out. On the part of Sony, this means that the future PlayStation 5 could come out earlier than expected so that waiting time is reduced and playing time is shortened for new titles as they need to be ported again to the new console before the gameplay is resumed.
