HTC One’s successor was accidentally revealed by a UK-based patent judge during an on-going court hearing between HTC and Nokia. Apparently, the upcoming handset will be known as “HTC One Two”, aptly named after its flagship predecessor. However, no specific hardware specifications were mentioned but fanboys should take note that the One Two is set to release in Q1 of 2014, or as early as February of next year, according to the court document.
HTC and Nokia are clashing heads in the UK due to alleged infringement of Nokia’s patented modulator – a data transmission chip currently manufactured by Qualcomm. Apparently, the device is currently being used by a number ofHTC handsets including One Max, One Mini, HTC 8X and HTC 8S. Nokia wanted HTC to stop importing and selling the stated handsets and other HTC devices in the UK and pay the necessary license fees. HTC complied and stop importing only the affected handsets, it continues to sell other models particularly its flagship HTC One. Meanwhile, Nokia wanted the injunction to be permanent which would result into a catastrophe for HTC’s part since sales are expected to pick-up during the holidays.
The judge had ultimately decided not to prevent HTC from importing its other phones in the UK for now until HTC One’s successor, so named as HTC One Two, will be released next year. However, this revelation would probably hurt HTCOne’s sales given that majority of consumers may already know it, and would force them to wait for the new flagship to arrive.
Are you going to wait for HTC One Two’s arrival next year or would you rather have a HTC One today?(source)
