China-based phone maker Oppo is ready to introduce its latest smartphone creation this month. The Oppo R1 was recently announced through Chinese social network Sina Weibo clad in sleek black and white suits. Both models are scheduled to ship before the end of this month in China and plans to take other smartphone brands head-on.
No internal specs were mentioned but leaked details from TENAA (China’s FCC) suggested that it would be carrying a 5-inch touchscreen panel with 960 x 540 resolution, quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing shooter and running Android platform with either Cyanogen ROM or Oppo’s customized skin. The company is also proud on R1′s camera performance specially on low-light conditions describing it as “stunning”. The camera technology utilized the same PI technology embedded on the high-end N1 model.
In comparison to N1, the upcoming R1 model has mediocre quality. The former is also running CyanogenMod with 5.9-inch display and 13-megapixel rotating camera among its top hardware attributes. The N1 is set to debut in US and Europe on December 10 for $599 (unlocked). Meanwhile, the Oppo R1 is expected to follow the same route with international release possible by next year. Price is still unknown as of this writing.
