Once the Android KitKat 4.0 update comes it is not advisable to clear the Google Service Framework data and then hit the update key, or make the clearing as the automatic update is about to commence. A forced update could be annoying if data is initially wiped out since it disable some features such as the push notifications of the apps.
While the device is secured from total OS failure, bringing or reinstalling the apps or some other features could be a great annoyance especially if time is not on the side of the user. The suggested approach is to use the adb sideloadinstead but that is reserved for those who are well-versed in tinkering with an OS. The apps follow a unique ID system that that allows it to work well with the OS and wiping out the data causes them to stop working normally especially when an update for the OS is in progress.
For now, the best approach is to wait for the OTA update and just hit the update key once available without doing anything with the current configuration. The update process could take hours or even weeks so that patience should reign on the part of owners. A few mobile devices like the newly-unveiled LG Nexus 5 has KitKat on-board.
