Steam Machine Console By iBuyPower To Rival PS4 & Xbox One

Two Steam Machine console models are in the works at iBuyPower: “Freeman” and “Gordon”. These boxes try to duplicate the functionalities and features of the popular video gaming consoles Xbox One of Microsoft and PlayStation 4 of Sony but that is a long way to go. The prototype is limited to playing Steam titles in no more than 1080p resolution and at 60fps. The two differ only in color and and the light bar located in the middle of one.
They will be utilizing the early version of the Steam OS and beyond that, nothing more can be said about the prototype although launching could probably take place during the 2014 CES in January. They will naturally contain the commonconnectivity options such as Bluetooth and WiFi as well as bigger storage capacities like a 500Gb HDD. Valve Corp. owns the Steam brand but its business partner iBuyPower will be building the rig for the company.
The prototype shown in the image has a discrete GPU and an AMD CPU inside with a size smaller than an Xbox One. iBuyPower hinted that it’s too early to tell what will come out in the final version, it seemed clear for now that a new kind of gaming console will soon face both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
