Microsoft’s Xbox One’s Day One troubles are far from over as another glitch is subject of a report from numerous users. And the glitch pertains to the boot sequence after the initialization screen which produced a green screen rather than proceeding to the screen for the configuration of the controller. While it occurs on first-time start-up the system however remains on this state for a long time.
Some of the solutions given include waiting for the green screen to disappear and the controller screen to appear and restarting the system. If that is not enough, other users complain of a defective optical-disc drive which seems to create a crunching or clicking sound or to fail to read a disc once inserted. Microsoft responded by requiring owners of defective units to contact the company’s customer support for troubleshooting or possible replacement of the device.
The green screen of death is akin to the red ring of death that had befallen on Xbox 360 back in 2005 and had caused the company to shell out $1 billion to provide the needed fix. Xbox One was released a week ahead of Sony’s PlayStation 4 but some glitches experienced by buyers were considered by Microsoft to be minor and insignificant in number constituting only 0.4% of the total units sold.
