The effort of the UK government in convincing online search engine companies has finally paid off when Google has officially announced that it is filtering the search engine to prevent child abusers from using the service to satisfy their lustful desires. In fact, the giant search engine company is classifying 13,000 search terms that are connected with child abuse or pornography as inappropriate with a warning message about the possible consequences if user stubbornly refuse to leave and heed the warning advice.
The search engine can even detect the user’s browsing activities related to child pornography. Advocates of free speech are quick to denounce the move as an infringement on the right but they’re simply overwhelmed by the government’s persuasive power on the companies. Microsoft is also committed to follow the move made by Google with regards to its Bing search engine. The UK government has been advancing the cause relating to the protection of children from all forms of abuse and pornographic activities.
The increasing trend in child abuse cases has forced the UK government to talk with the companies about restricting access to the websites that have been classified as containing pornographic contents through their search engines despite the clamor of free speech activists to maintain the status quo.
