After releasing the Haswell-based C720 but to the disappointment of the spendthrifts because of the $250 price tag, Acer is once again releasing a new Haswell-based chromebook with the same code name but different variant, C720-2848 variant. This means that it has lower specs than the previous model with RAM at 2GB, an SSD at 16Gb and a Celeron processor at 1.4Ghz. This cheap C270 version comes with a display at 11.6-inches and a resolution of 1366 x 768 plus a battery life of 8.5 hours.
Basically, both have the same specs except for the RAM capacity. Although no optical drive is available, it has the important connectivity options such as the USB 3.0 port and the USB 2.0 while an SD card slot is also provided. The costlier C270 was launched last month but few takers had prompted the company to downgrade the RAM to bring down the price of the chromebook.
A chromebook is a good and cheap alternative to a Windows-based notebook. The usual OS apps up to the latest versions and the free Google Drive 100GB storage good for two years are what the company is to offer with this chromebook. The Acer C720 Chromebook is now available in Amazon and selected retailers with a price tag of $199.
