While the popular racing game Gran Turismo 6 is yet to be released, the game creator is already hinting that the next version Gran Turismo is in the works and that it could come out anytime next year. Kazunori Yamauchi appeared during this year’s Los Angeles Motor Show to talk about handling GT6 on PlayStation 3.
The unveiling of Sony’s next-gen console PlayStation 4 should work to the advantage of GT7 because of its superior quality and advanced technology. The launching of GT6 augurs well for existing PS3 owners because their number is a force to reckon with as there are still 80 million current-gen consoles waiting out there, a potential revenue earner for the GT6.
The game developer Polyphony Digital, however, is supporting Yamauchi’s idea that a quick conversion of GT6 to PS4 is not necessary since the latest console should be comfortable with the next version of GT instead rather than forcing the current version to PlayStation 4. If the plan pushes through next year, Sony may need to produce more PS4’s owing to the fact that the game is an entirely new one and works only on PS4. But a plan is just a plan and in the meantime fans of Gran Turismo should start enjoying what GT6 has to offer once it is released.
