The upgraded Kira ultrabook series from Toshiba have something good to offer to loyalists and new customers alike – one of which is a battery that can last for 22 hours at most. For a user who sleeps only 2 hours a day it means a whole of working and manipulating the laptop for whatever it’s worth. But when the touchscreen and the high-res display are in continuous use, battery life is reduced to at least 14 hours for the lower-end model.
First off, the new Dynabook Kira V654 has a 13.3-inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution and it is powered by a Haswell-based Intel Core processor. The other model known as Dynabook Kira V834 sports an ultra HD 2,560 X 1440 resolution and is touch-capable along with its compatibility with the latest Windows 8’s touch-screen functionality. And this is where the 14-hour battery life limit belongs. The company’s Kira line of laptops is known for its fast boot-up and a brilliant display.
The upgrade is made to improve the battery life with the Haswell processor inside. Japanese customers will be the first to taste any of the duo with a starting price for V834 at $1,530 and for V634 at $1,446. For now, the company is silent as to when the ultrabooks become available in other regions and as to the price for those regions.
