Sony SmartWig Patent: Next-gen Wearable Tech?

Wearable devices are touted as the next frontier of technology. Several tech manufacturers have shown interest on building one or more including Google, Samsung and Sony. And while Sony seems happy with its smartwatch and head mounted display that didn’t stop the company from thinking out of the box.
A recent patent application from Sony describes a “SmartWig”, which resembles like your typical wig apparel but mounted with technological innovation. For starters, it has embedded circuit board that allows the hairpiece to pair with mobile devices while providing feedback like vibration once you receive a message in your smartphone.
Sony claims that wigs is the “perfect hiding place” for electronics since individuals tend to “instinctively protect their heads more than other body parts”. These electronics including GPS, ultrasound transducer, laser pointer, built-in camera and even a remote controller. The company has tested the SmartWig on giving presentations, changing slides by touching side burns. Other features could be added on this smart hairpiece if ever it goes mainstream.
The Sony SmartWig seems like it was taken straight out of a comic spy movie but perhaps experts will see it on a different angle years from.
