Activision should be proud of its Call of Duty franchise since it has generated more revenues in the past months. In fact, the Call of Duty: Ghosts has already shipped a billion worth on retail and is not yet stopping. This announcement should be a good news to the stakeholders as management is also preparing to report on the sales figures for the second quarter.
The CEO of Activision is confident that that the figure will continue to increase with the increasing popularity of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The $1 billion sales cover one day only and is a good bet against the Grand Theft Auto V’s $1 billion sales which took three days. However, retailers are quick to say that they are simply balancing between overstocking and depleting copies whenever demand goes up and down in the coming months.
So, we’re talking about the numbers at the retailers’ side of the fence since once a game is sold to a retailer, it should be considered as good as sold. The figure also covers all current-gen video game consoles as well as Wii U andWindows PC, including pre-orders for the next-gen consoles as Xbox One and PlayStation4. Ghosts has beaten the record held on by GTV 5 but the two games are not meaningfully comparable.
