China-based electronics company Meizu is the first to announce the 128GB smartphone through its MX3 series. It’s no surprise, however, since we already knew the high capacity model since it was first announced in September. The handset is now available for purchase and compatible only with China Mobile network due to its TD-SCDMA connectivity.
To recall, the MX3 has huge touchscreen panel at 5.1-inch with odd aspect ratio 15:9 and resolution of 1800 x1080. Nevertheless, it has high-end hardware under the hood including an Octa-core Exynos 5410, 2GB RAM, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 2-megapixel front-facing camera,1080p video recording, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC support, GSM connectivity support and powered by a 2400mAh battery unit. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have expansion card support so users may opt for higher internal storage to compensate.
The Meizu MX3 will be available in several different colors and multiple storage options including 16/32/64 and 128GB. In China, the 128GB variant costs a hefty 3,999 Yuan ($660) – off-contract price – available online via JD.com. Interested consumers in the US and other countries will need to wait for the WCDMA version to support local networks. Another option is the Vivo Xplay 3 which is rumored to also have 128GB storage option; a 5.5-inch smartphone that is first to feature Quad HD display.
