Netflix wants its subscribers to experience the 4Kresolution on their TV screens even just for a few videos. In fact, it is rolling out 6 videos this week on a test basis and all have the same 8-minute recording but in different rates of fps. A 4K or UHD (Ultra High Definition) format usually settles at 24 frames per second but the test videos have fps of between 24 to 59.95.
The company offered no explanation as to different fps but anyone with standard High Definition TV will experience the 4K format but in a toned-down resolution of 1080 x 720. The test videos aren’t the first since Netflix is known for its many testing involving anything that improves its service to its subscribers. It is currently working out a deal with video content providers for a 4K format of videos as the company takes the opportunity of increased sales of 4K TVs.
The CEO of Netflix wants to fully adopt the 4K format effective next year once it reaches a deal with video content providers. For, those test clips can be a good starting point allowing viewers to provide a feedback about their experience and help the company improve its service even more in the near future as may be necessary.
