Top Benchmark Apps Banned Select Samsung and HTC Devices For Cheating

Benchmarking is nothing new in the world of smartphones and a new app from Futuremark has just delisted some known and popular smartphones in the market, those belonging to HTC and Samsung. In particular, the units affected are HTC One Mini, Galaxy Note 3, HTC One and Galaxy Note 10. The 3DMark app detects an unfair treatment from these devices allowing them to cheat and gain scores in an abnormal fashion.
They simply violated the Fairness Policy of the app and the company itself resulting to their delisting as the app also has the capability to filter score and to improve compatibility with the latest wares from NVIDIA as well as Galaxy S3 models from Samsung. The Android app is currently available in Google Play. Delisting means the device’s rank and score are wiped off and this happens when specific benchmarking rules have been violated.
Benchmarking helps users choose the right smartphone because it provides them the figures and the score for which the device deserves in terms of performance and other related matters. Other benchmarking apps like GFXBench and AnTuTu have detected some score manipulations in devices that underwent benchmarking. There seems to be no reaction from Samsung and HTC as the benchmarks could probably mean nothing to them.
