Are curved-display handsets the next big thing for smartphones? We don’t know for sure but big manufacturing names have already introduced their own renditions particularly Samsung and LG. Apple was rumored to create its own curved-display iPhonewith bigger display for 2014. While LG’s flexiblehandset is sure to debut in Korea and some European countries, it’s still uncertain whether it will reach Uncle Sam. A recent FCC leak, however, suggests that LG’s G Flex might get the nod for US release.
Although it’s still unknown as to when it will reach US shores, the FCC document revealed that the LG D959 (known G Flex model number) will be compatible with AT&T’s network and T-Mobile networks. It has LTE band 17, quad-band GSM support, LTE Band 4 (AWS), WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC support and built-in GPS among its connectivity features. Other known specs for the G Flex includes a curved 5.9-inch AMOLED display, 1080p resolution, Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 13-megapixel main camera with OIS, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, scratch resistant & self-healing rear panel and 3500 mAh battery unit fit for all day usage.
Specs are high-end but we are yet to find out if it will click with consumers. It’s speculated that units might be released as early as December while US residents should get it during the early months of 2014. Price is still unknown.
